What are Vitals AHCC?

Vitals AHCC capsules use the AHCC manufactured by Amino Up. For many years, Amino Up, AHCC's manufacturer, has worked with some of the world's most respected scientists in Japan.

In contrast to Europe, where it is not (yet) generally known, AHCC® is a frequently utilized dietary supplement.

AHCC is a unique standardized extract of cultured shiitake mushroom or Lentinula edodes. It's a terrific supplement that has been scientifically proven to benefit the immune system.

What is AHCC, and is it the same with Shiitake Mushroom?

AHCC, or "Active Hexose Correlated Compound," is a standardized extract of cultured Shiitake mushroom (Lentinula edodes). AHCC® contains a mixture of nutrients, including amino acids, oligosaccharides, and minerals.

In a nutshell, AHCC® is made by culturing the mycelia of a shiitake mushroom, followed by separation, sterilization, and freeze-drying. Oligosaccharides, which comprise around 74% of the dry weight of AHCC®, are the most abundant component.

Does AHCC cause weight gain?

No. AHCC does not cause weight gain.

How is AHCC produced?

• It takes roughly forty days for the yeast to ferment. The mycelia are cultured in a rice bran-based liquid culture medium that has been created for this purpose.
• The mycelia convert components of the media into other nutrients throughout the fermentation process.
• This fermentation and conversion process created the unique composition of AHCC and what makes it different from any dried shiitake mushroom powder.
• Centrifugation separates the insoluble cell components after forty days, leaving a rich liquid ('supernatant') high in alpha-glucans and other nutrients.
• This is then freeze-dried into AHCC® powder, processed into capsules.
• The extract's fragile natural components are kept safe by avoiding employing heat at any point during the manufacturing process.

The approved health claim for AHCC by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is that it helps activate the immune system and exert potential effects in stimulating immunity. Several scientific studies have supported this health claim, which you can view here.
