Algomed Chlorella

Algomed - The cleanest and best Chlorella

algomed

A production technology that guarantees the highest purity and quality. The uniqueness of ALGOMED® is manufacturing technology. To improve the quality of all cultures and to prevent pollution, in Germany a revolutionary production method has been developed in a closed patented glass piping system of more than 500 km. The production is thus fully controlled with optimal living conditions for the algae. At the same time, the algae are protected against the devastating environmental effects observed during normal cultivation. Here the cultivation in large open ponds concrete, when it is not possible to prevent contaminants such as dust, insects from the environment and unwanted heavy metals. The production of ALGOMED® in glass tubes results in maximum purity. ALGOMED® is produced without any form of tablet tools and fillers.

Chlorella is a microscopic green algae, not much larger than a red blood cell. The name of this single-celled water plant comes from the Greek chloros = green or yellow-green and --ella = small. The microalga is spherical and appears worldwide. Chlorella is one of the most thoroughly studied plants out there. This success is mainly due to the physiological properties of the diet. In PubMed alone - one of the largest online archives for scientific publications - there are now 5,463 entries for the search term 'Chlorella' (as at 31 March 2017). Microalgae are mainly grown in Asia, Europe and the United States. Different cultivation methods are used: open ponds of concrete or plastic foil, fermenters or so-called 'photobioreactors'.

Health-related statements are difficult or almost impossible to enact as a result of the legal framework (eg the EFSA Health Claims Regulation, the European Food Safety Authority). For that reason, you will not find such statements that are claimed on this page.

Chlorella vulgaris & Chlorella pyrenoidosa

The above-mentioned 'species' are currently the types of Chlorella most commonly found in shops. Since 1992 it has been known (E. Kessler and V.A.R. Huss) that there is no separate species "Chlorella pyrenoidosa". This has been confirmed in several follow-up studies. This is in fact more due to an outdated concept of a "species" that was used for different species and strains of algae groups. The underlying species when documents "C. pyrenoidosa" will for example be Chlorella vulgaris, Chlorella sorokiniana and Chlorella fusca.

Broken cell walls / micronisation

The question is often whether the Chlorella cell walls have to be broken in one way or another (in a ball mill, with ultrasonic waves, etc.) To improve their digestibility or other properties.

The cell walls of Algomed Chlorella are not broken and do not have to be: Several studies have shown: the digestibility of Chlorella is not significantly increased by breaking up the cell walls. Factors such as the drying process or the type (strain) of Chlorella that is used have a greater impact. This is summarized as follows in a publication by T. Kanno (2005), which states that "the original characteristics and the physiological effects of Chlorella have not changed by breaking the cell wall" and "It is more to be feared that the process of breaking up the cell wall can break down proteins, destroy vitamins and fatty acids, resulting in oxidation effects. "

Chlorella & vitamin B12

The issue of the bioavailability of vitamin B12 from algae is a point of controversy. And in fact there are indeed big differences between algae with regard to the presence of different cobalamins and their bioavailability. Using the LC-MS / MS method we can only detect the biologically available forms in our product. Our Chlorella contains 100 μg of total vitamin B12 per 100 g of product, i.e. the recommended daily dose of 3 g of Chlorella represents 120% of the daily requirement

Chlorella and iodine

Iodine is only important in marine algae. This element can only be found in trace amounts in fresh water algae such as Chlorella.

Thanks to Algomed's unique cultivation method and continuous inspections, they can guarantee an exceptionally high quality level of Chlorella products. Nevertheless, they also regularly test their products for harmful substances that may be present, such as pesticide residues, aflatoxins, microcystins, heavy metals and others.

As with other foods, it is in principle not possible to exclude allergies, hypersensitivity and intolerance to microalgae.

100% Chlorella Vulgaris Chlorella powder from local algae farm in Saxony-Anhalt.

The advantages of this chlorella are:

    - ecologically due to optimum production conditions because of a patented production process in a glass tube system

    - optimal supply of the algae with sunlight (because there are no deeper layers like in ponds)

    - guaranteed free from contamination due to environmental influences (because closed system) no heating (sterilization) required

    - unprocessed feed quality and the best taste!

    - Chlorella is often called a superfood that can be defined as a food that contains a high concentration of essential and beneficial herbs that have significant health-promoting properties.
