Why is protein important?
Protein is one of the three main macronutrients, along with fat and carbohydrates (There is also alcohol, if you count that too!). Protein has in the past, received some stigma, however this was completely unfounded! More recently, protein has been shown to provide a range of benefits.
One of the benefits of consuming more protein is the beneficial role it can play in weight loss. Protein requires the most kCals to digest, keeps us fuller for longer and contributes to maintenance of muscle (which also burns kCals).
